GAP EVENTS – Gandhi Ashram

Introduction

Ten years ago, GAP began as an experiment: Could we build a movement of Changemakers tackling poverty through collective action?

Today, Global Action on Poverty stands tall — with 745+ Changemakers, 189+ experts, 61+ partners, and thousands of lives impacted.

Let’s take a look at the journey, the milestones, and what the next decade holds.

The Spark at Gandhi Ashram

GAP was launched in 2015 at the iconic Sabarmati Gandhi Ashram. A gathering of passionate individuals laid the foundation for what would become India’s most structured poverty-fighting ecosystem.

2015–2017: Building the Community

  • GAP Intensive launched with 30 leaders
  • 100+ mentors onboarded
  • First showcase at Annual GAP Event

2018–2020: Programs Multiply

  • GAP Learn, GAP Accelerate, and GAP Serve introduced
  • Partner network expands (IIMB, Tata Trusts, Ashoka)
  • Cross-sector labs and regional meet-ups hosted

2020–2022: Navigating the Pandemic

  • Virtual format launched for GAP Intensive
  • COVID support platform connects NGOs with volunteers
  • Mental wellness toolkit released for Changemakers

2023–2025: Scaling With Depth

  • 745+ Changemakers now part of the GAP family
  • Deepened focus on underserved regions (NE India, tribal belts)
  • GAP Alumni Platform launched

What We’ve Learned

  • Poverty cannot be solved in isolation — ecosystem matters
  • Inner transformation fuels outer action
  • Trust, not just tech, is the glue for social change
  • Inclusion isn’t a buzzword — it’s the baseline

What’s Next?

GAP 2.0 aims to:

  • Expand to South Asia and Africa via learning hubs
  • Launch GAP Fellowships for young social leaders
  • Raise an innovation fund for high-impact ideas
  • Build a digital mentorship platform

A Note of Gratitude

To every Changemaker, coach, partner, and volunteer — this journey is yours. Thank you for believing that poverty can end, and that people are the solution.

Conclusion

Ten years in, the fire burns stronger. GAP is not just an organization. It’s a belief system. A community. A movement.

The road ahead is long. But we walk it together.
